You are warmly invited to a September festival celebrating linen and flax in Scotland, then, now and next. Join us on a Linen Pilgrims’ Way through Fife leading to five days of events in Linen City Dunfermline, with walks, workshops, talks and exhibitions.
Exploring Fife’s linen legacy with scenic walks and workshops.
Our Linen Pilgrimage winds through Fife, with short Walks in key linen townscapes, sharing stories and reflecting on Fife’s flax cultures as we go, celebrating in some of Scotland’s most scenic landscapes. Our Workshops keep the creative juices flowing with a hands-on experience from seed to shelf, and a chance to scutch and heckle, dye, spin and weave. Our Sunday Specials continue the journey in gorgeous green spaces, in and around the places that are home to flax and linen culture in Fife all year round.
Weaving Community with Five Days in Linen City Dunfermline
Our three Exhibitions are open from 11 September, and tell a host of linen stories, old and very new: Our Linen Stories, Making Millie and Learning with Linen.
Our four Community Gatherings include Cloth and Community, a lively panel discussion to make, mend and flourish, What Next Flax Fest?, a participatory exploration of what might come next for this new festival, and Natural Fibre Networks, an invitation to explore possible futures for natural fibres in Scotland.
We round off with Weaving Community, our FlaxFest24 closing event.
Join us to help shape this year’s FlaxFest24, and to create what is to come next.
