Welcome to our Edinburgh Events in January, including our closing event cluster of this series.

This month we focus on Scotland in Europe: our shared Material Culture, elements of the cultures around flax and linen that draw us together through shared heritage and contemporary practice: growing and processing flax, spinning and weaving linen and the people and places across Europe that engage today with this extraordinary fibre.

We celebrate the many cultural links that Scotland has our  European ‘linen neighbour nations’: The Netherlands. Belgium, France and Ireland.

Our creative cluster of events this month:

  • Twilight Talk about Design: Scotland in Europe, our shared Material Culture / Thursday 16 January 2020

Our Thursday evening begins with an open viewing of the exhibition at 5.30pm, drinks served from 6pm,  convening for our talk at 6.30pm sharp and drawing to a close around 8pm.

  • Weavers Tales at Summerhall / an early afternoon discussion with Ian Dale, Friday 17 January 1.30pm to 2.15pm
