Walking Linen, Talking Shop: a 90-minute stroll through Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Emerging from Our Linen Stories and coincident with our exhibition at Dovecot Studios, help us trace linen links to the capital’s retail and commercial development while spotting contemporary design interventions en route. Assemble inside Dovecot Studios. Dress for the weather with footwear to tackle Edinburgh’s rambling streets.

This event is part of the Walks by Design initiative established by Journeys in Design in 2015, celebrating creative interventions past and present during 90 minute walks in urban localities throughout Scotland.

This event is part of November 2019 Events in Edinburgh // Sustaining Futures

Welcome to our Edinburgh exhibition and events in November. This month we focus on Design Futures in Scotland: the Circular Economy, our repurposing efforts, sustainable material and product innovations, holistic community development and the tough choices faced by producers and consumers.

Our Regional Scottish focus is The Highlands and our European focus is on Scotland’s linen links to Northern Ireland.

Our creative cluster of events this month:

The Thursday evening begins with an open viewing of the exhibition at 5.30pm, drinks served from 6pm, convening for our talk at 6.30pm sharp and drawing the event to a close around 8pm.
